Adam El Masri
Adam was a valuable community outreach member who aided the recruitment of participants for the CANFAR Funded YSMENA Study. His work with YSMENA was based in British Columbia and was pivotal for the study's expansion to BC.
Born and raised in Syria, Adam fled from Syria to Lebanon at the age of 14 due to the war. After several years of living in Beirut, Adam became a volunteer and activist in defending human rights, in general, and the rights of the 2SLGBTQ+ community and women, specifically. Adam has devoted much of his life and time to raising awareness of legal rights for 2SLGBTQ+ communities, educating on sexually transmitted diseases, and aiding homeless 2SLGBTQ+ members of the community obtain shelter. He has worked with associations such as HELEM, AFE and TAYF before seeking asylum in Canada due to his activism within Lebanon.
