Sirena Van Schaik is a mature student pursuing an honours specialization in Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies with a minor in Creative Writing at Western. She holds a master's degree in creative and critical writing as well as a postgraduate certificate in creative writing. As a journalist and novelist for 17 years, her work often explores themes around the impact of structural and interpersonal violence against gendered bodies. She plans to pursue her PhD in gender studies.
